NIJZ RESEARCH TEAM:

Matej Vinko, MD., is a public health specialist at the National Institute of Public Health of Slovenia (NIJZ). He serves as the Deputy Head of the National Mental Health Programme 2018-208 and the Head of the Mental Health Centre at NIJZ. During his residency, he was the president of the Association of Public Health Residents of Slovenia and vice-president of the European Network of Medical Residents in Public Health. In addition to his roles at NIJZ, he is the editor-in-chief of a Slovenian peer-reviewed public health journal (revija Javno zdravje), an active member of the Public Mental Health section at EUPHA, a PhD candidate, and an assistant at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. 

Assist. Univ. Prof. Saška Roškar, Ph.D., is a psychologist, active in the field of mental health promotion and prevention of mental diseases. Her main interest lie in public health approaches to suicide prevention. She is the leader of the Interdisciplinary working group for suicide prevention which operates within the National program for mental health in Slovenia. In the past she was the national representative for Slovenia in International Association for Suicide Prevention. She was involved in international and national initiatives and projects (e.g. developing and implementing guideliness for responsible reporting on suicide; establishing a network of counseling service; education of community and professional gatekeepers) which scaled up suicide prevention in the country. She has authored and co-authored scientific papers in the filed and has together with prof. Alja Videtič Paska edited the comprehensive Slovenian Handbook of Suicidology. She is appointed assistant professor at the Department of Psychology, University of Ljubljana.
